Basic4 - MAI - BBX - VPRO5 - BBJ - Business Basic - Barista - Basis
My customers have all migrated off the Basic/Four Hardware, and onto Linux, Unix, and Windows based operating systems and computers, utilizing the BBx Basic and Vpro5 Basic programming languages, from Basis, which allowed these customers to keep their MAI Accounting Software intact, with no training needed. This migration also gives the customers the ability to put on a graphical front end, and transforms their software into the Windows environment. It also provides more flexibility, compatibility and other great advantages when making modifications and changes to their accounting software. The next step is BBJ Basic and possibly Barista from Basis.
I'm still programming and making changes to MAI Accounting Systems. The MAI software allows for a low annual maintenance cost, while changes can be made, easily and quickly, and to meet the customer's specific needs.
As I said earlier it's been 30 years and I still enjoy programming and solving problems. It's always a great feeling walking into a new customer, getting to know them and how they do business, and assisting them with all their computer and data processing needs. There is nothing you can't do with the MAI Software and the Business Basic language. I've talked to a few customers after they have moved to other accounting systems, and they tell me how much easier the MAI system was to use. I actually had a customer migrate back to the MAI Software. All the bells and whistles were gone. They had to start keeping notes, because things weren't automated like they were in the MAI system. It took days to enter, verify, and report on payroll information, while on the MAI Software it only took only a few hours. They had to adapt to their new accounting system, rather than the new accounting system adapting to their business.

ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE EXPERIENCE
Hello, my name is Scott Haney and I graduated from college in 1980 with a Business degree and a minor in Accounting. I went back to school in 1982 for Computer Science. I started programming in 1984 using the Business Basic language, on MAI Basic/Four Computers, using the MAI Basic/Four Accounting Software. Its now been 30 years, and I've done freelance programming, consulting, systems analysis, and hardware maintenance, for over 50 companies, ranging from 1 to 50 users, and having annual sales figures of upwards toward $30,000,000.
In the process of performing systems analysis, I've actually worked in most of the departments in which I had to code programs. It's my opinion there is no better way to learn how a system works, then to process the information yourself and see the interaction between the software and the end user. I've entered sales orders and purchase orders, to
cash receipts and many different kinds of reporting. I've integrated 3rd party software into our accounting systems to aid in the processing of information. Sometimes in the matter of a few short days, a system can be up and running as opposed to taking months to accomplish through coding.
